Have you noticed com.sec.android.app.camerasaver using your camera in the background? What is it, and what is its function on your phone?

It can be scary to find camera-related apps running in the background of your phone, especially with a rise in incidents of stalkerware apps. But worry not! Com.sec.android.app.camerasaver is not a spying app.

Instead, it is an Android system application that stores and manages videos and photos captured by your phone’s camera. Below is everything you need to know about the app and what it does on your phone.

What is com.sec.android.app.camerasaver, and what are its functions?

Com.sec.android.app.camerasaver is not an app in itself, but the package name for the app. The components of the package name can be broken down as follows:

Com – this signifies that the package is from a commercial entity or company.

Sec – an acronym for Samsung Electronics Co., LTD. It signifies that the package is from Samsung.

Android – it signifies that the package is designed for the Android platform.

App – This designates the package as an application.

Camerasaver – this is the application’s name.

Therefore, it is clear that com.sec.android.app.camerasaver is the package name for a camera-saving application for Samsung Android phones.

The application has several functions, including:

1. Data storage for the camera app

Com.sec.android.app.camerasaver is the application that is responsible for saving photos and videos captured by your phone’s camera.

2. Camera management

The app manages the device’s camera, ensuring it functions properly and is ready to use when needed.

3. Gallery integration

Given its role in storing photos and videos captured by the camera, it is likely that the application works with the gallery app to organize and display media.

4. Privacy indicators

As part of Android’s Privacy Indicators, com.sec.android.app.camerasaver helps display a green dot notification on the screen, indicating that the camera is being actively used.

What permissions does the Samsung camera saver app have?

There is little information about the full range of permissions the Camerasaver app has on Android devices. However, given its function, the following are some of the possible permissions the has:

Camera – the app has camera permissions, allowing it to access the images and videos captured.

Storage – it has storage permission, allowing it to save captured media.

The app may also have other permissions, such as microphone access (for recording audio in videos) and location services (for geotagging captured images).

Is com.sec.android.app.camerasaver dangerous?

Com.sec.android.app.camerasaver is not dangerous. First, it is a system application that comes pre-installed on your phone (not downloaded from the app store), so you don’t have to worry about it being filled with viruses or malware.

Secondly, the application is developed by a reputable company, Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., so you don’t have to worry about it being a malicious third-party app.

However, while the app is not dangerous, some Samsung phone users have expressed concerns about its operations.

Some users have complained about suspicious activity in the app. Image: Reddit@AndroidQuestions

Several people have reported that the application accesses the camera in the background immediately after booting their devices. This has led to concerns that the app is performing suspicious activity, such as spying on users.

However, despite these concerns, no reported cases of the app being stalkerware have been found. As one user has put it, it’s common for apps to have hidden permissions that allow them to run in the background.

Com.sec.android.app.camerasaver is a pre-installed system app that is not dangerous. Image: Samsung Community

Can you uninstall the Samsung camera saver app?

No. Com.sec.android.app.camerasaver is a pre-installed system application. Therefore, you cannot uninstall it from your phone or disable it.

You can delete the application from your device using a root uninstaller (after rooting your phone) or an Android Debug Bridge (ADB) tool. However, neither of these options is advisable.

First, uninstalling system apps with root or ADB carries several risks, like voiding your device’s warranty or damaging it beyond repair.

In addition to these general risks, the com.sec.android.app.camerasaver is not a standalone app but a critical component of the Samsung camera system.

Therefore, uninstalling it would, at best, cause your camera to stop working and, at worst, damage your phone’s camera system extensively.

You should also note that since it’s a pre-installed system app, you can’t download it from the app store. Therefore, uninstalling the app will likely cause permanent damage to your device’s camera system.

Some Samsung smartphones come with a system app called com.samsung.android.da.daagent. If you have encountered the app on your phone, you might have wondered about its role.

Com.samsung.android.da.daagent is the system package name of Samsung Dual Messenger. It is a system application/feature that allows you to create clones of various messenger apps so you can use two separate accounts on the same app.

Below is everything you should know about com.samsung.android.da.daagent, from its role to how to use the application, various issues you might encounter (and how to fix them), and how to uninstall the app.

What is the role of com.samsung.android.da.daagent on your phone?

Com.samsung.android.da.daagent allows you to create duplicate apps of various applications on your Samsung phone. It supports messenger apps like Snapchat, Facebook, WhatsApp, Messenger, Skype, kik, and Telegram.

After creating a duplicate app, you can log into it using different credentials from the original app, thus allowing you to maintain two separate accounts for the same app.

In addition, com.samsung.android.da.daagent allows you to create a secondary contact list that you can use with the cloned app(s). This feature allows you to completely isolate the duplicate apps from the original ones.

How to use the Samsung Dual Messenger app?

Setting up the Dual Messenger app is very straightforward. Below is a look at how to do it.

1. Create your secondary contacts list

Before cloning apps using com.samsung.android.da.daagent, consider creating a secondary contacts list.

While this is not necessary, the secondary contacts list prevents the duplicate apps from using the same contacts as the original apps, thus isolating them.

To create a secondary contact list on the Samsung Dual Messenger:

Go to Settings on your Samsung phone.

Scroll down to Advanced features and select Dual Messenger.

Go to the Contacts section and slide the toggle button next to Use Separate Contacts List to activate the secondary contact list option.

Tap “Use Separate Contacts List” and then “Select Contacts” to create a secondary contact list.

Tap the “Add” option to add contacts to your secondary list and “Delete” to remove them.

2. Create duplicate apps

With the secondary contacts list set up, you can start creating duplicate apps with the Samsung Dual Messenger. To do this:

Go to Settings>Advanced features on your Samsung phone.

Select Dual Messenger (you will see a list of apps you can clone).

Slide the toggle button next to the app you want to clone (for example, Snapchat).

Tap Install on the pop-up installation window to duplicate your selected app.

Turn on the “Use separate contacts list” option to allow the cloned app to use the duplicate app to use your secondary contacts.

Repeat the process above to clone another app(s).

How to clone apps using com.samsung.android.da.daagent. Image: Samsung

After cloning each app, it will appear on your phone’s home screen and app drawer. The cloned app(s) will have an icon featuring two small circles on the bottom right, allowing you to differentiate the duplicate from the original.

Benefits of com.samsung.android.da.daagent

Samsung Dual Messenger offers several benefits like:

Using multiple accounts for the same app – You can create independently functioning clone apps of various messenger apps and use different accounts for each.

Separate personal and professional chats – You can create two instances of each supported app, one for personal use and the other for work. The secondary contacts list can further isolate your personal and professional messages.

Convenience and increased efficiency – You can use two accounts of the same app without needing to log out and log in between different accounts or needing a second device. This can be especially helpful if you want to manage multiple social media accounts on one device.

Increased privacy – you can use the dual messenger app to isolate your communication, for example, between your family and friends or between two groups of friends. This can give you an added layer of privacy when chatting.

Problems when using Samsung Dual Messenger and how to fix them

Com.samsung.android.da.daagent is a useful feature that offers several benefits. However, some users have reported issues when using cloned apps with the feature.

Some of these issues include:

Delayed missed notifications from the duplicate apps.

Problems with SMS verification when setting up accounts on the cloned apps.

Problems when trying to transfer accounts on cloned apps to another device.

Crashing or freezing of duplicate apps

Increased battery drained and, in some cases, overheating of devices.

The good news is that you can fix most of these issues. Below is a look at the top solutions you can try:

1. Use different credentials for your duplicate app

When using com.samsung.android.da.daagent to clone apps, you should use different credentials for your duplicate apps. For example, you should use a different phone number to activate or verify accounts on your cloned apps.

You should also use different email addresses, for example, when logging into your Facebook account or backing up your WhatsApp account.

2. Clear Dual Messenger cache

Running two instances of the same app (or several apps) on your phone can be resource-intensive. Therefore, your duplicate apps might crash when you use them if your device does not have enough RAM or storage space.

Dual Messenger is resource-intensive, which can cause cloned apps to crash or freeze. Image: Samsung Community

To fix this, you can clear the Dual Messenger cache by going to Settings> Apps>(3 Dots at the top right)>show system apps> Dual Messenger>clear cache on your Samsung phone.

3. Clear cache/data of other apps

In addition to clearing the Dual Messenger cache, you can free up additional resources for your duplicate apps by clearing the cache or data of other apps.

To do this, go to Settings>Apps>(Select an app)>Storage>Clear cache/Clear Data on your phone. You can also go to your phone’s storage settings and clear up more storage space for your device.

4. Keep the apps updated

Issues with the original app can also cause cloned apps to crash and freeze. Therefore, to fix this problem, you should ensure that the apps you are trying to clone with Dual Messenger are up-to-date.

In addition, you should regularly update the original apps on your phone, which will, in turn, update the cloned apps.

5. Uninstall and reinstall the apps you are trying to clone

If you still have issues with the duplicate apps, you can try uninstalling and reinstalling the original versions of the apps you want to clone.

Before doing this, turn off the Dual Messenger feature, remove the app(s), and install a fresh version from the app store. Then, try cloning the apps again.

Can you uninstall com.samsung.android.da.daagent?

Com.samsung.android.da.daagent is a system application; therefore, you cannot delete the feature unless you use a root uninstaller or Android Debug Bridge tool.

However, you can easily remove the duplicate apps you have created, thus stopping the Dual Messenger feature from running on your device.

There are two ways to remove Dual Messenger cloned apps:

1. Uninstalling the apps from the home screen or app drawer

To uninstall the cloned app(s)

Locate the icon of the cloned app on your home screen or app drawer

Long-press on the app icon, then tap “Uninstall” to remove the app.

2. Removing the app from Dual Messenger

You can also uninstall cloned apps from the Dual Messenger feature in your settings. To do this:

Go to Settings>Advanced features>Dual Messenger on your Samsung phone.

Slide the toggle button next to the app you want to remove.

Click on “Disable” to uninstall the app. Repeat the process with other cloned apps you want to remove.

Note: Uninstalling the cloned app will also wipe away all its data (and you won’t be able to restore the data when you clone the app again).

However, you can also wipe all the data stored in the Dual Messenger app from your device. To do this:

Go to Settings>Advanced features>Dual Messenger on your device.

Tap on the three-dot menu (top right of the screen)

Select Delete All My Data and tap on Delete to confirm your decision.

If you own a Samsung phone, you have probably heard about the mysterious SKMS agent and the rumors that the application is malicious. But is the app really malicious, or are people just paranoid about it?

The SKMS agent is neither malicious nor a virus. It is a legitimate Samsung system app that comes pre-installed on phones and performs several beneficial functions.

Below is everything you need to know about the application, from its developers to what it does, benefits, and more.

What does the SKMS agent do on your phone?

SKMS agent (Samsung KMS agent) is a system app part of the Samsung Knox platform, a security platform offering data protection solutions for your device.

The Samsung KMS agent performs several functions on your phone, including:

1. Acts as a client application for eSE and SKMS

One of the major roles of the SKMS agent is serving as a client application (a secure go-between) for two vital Samsung mobile services – eSE and SKMS.

eSE (Embedded Secure Element) is a tamper-proof chip that offers a secure environment for storing and processing sensitive data, for example, pins, passwords, payment card data, cryptocurrency credentials, and cryptography keys.

SKMS, on the other hand, is a secure service that supports creating and managing encryption keys.

In its role as a client application, the SKMS agent carries out the following functions:

Authentication and authorization of requests between eSE and SKMS and eSE and other apps on your phone.

Supporting encryption and decryption processes on your phone/

Managing key permissions in SKMS

2. Manages SKMS protocols

The SKMS agent manages the communication protocols within SKMS and forwards commands from SKMS to eSE, thus ensuring the secure and smooth execution of various mobile services, such as making payments.

3. Supports mobile NFC services

NFC (Near Field Communication) is a vital service that supports short-range and contactless interaction between your phone and other devices.

You can use it to make contactless payments, share data (contacts), access control for security systems, and more.

SKMS agent plays a vital role in NFC payment services. Image: Appdrum

The SKMS agent facilitates secure communication between eSE and NFC applications (such as payment apps), guaranteeing smooth and secure transactions.

Benefits of SKMS agent application?

Having the SKMS agent on your phone can offer several benefits, including:

1. Protecting sensitive data

The SKMS agent acts as a secure interface between SKMS, eSE, and system/third-party applications. It also manages encryption and decryption processes on these platforms.

Therefore, it is a useful tool for protecting sensitive data like payment card details, passwords, mobile wallet details, and more from unauthorized access.

2. Enhancing your device’s security

The SKMS agent supports eSE and SKMS, two platforms vital to your device’s security.

It also facilitates secure communication between these platforms and other applications, ensuring maximum security when performing various actions, such as making payments or sharing contacts.

3. Ensuring the smooth operation of your device

KSMS agent allows for the smooth operation of various services on your device, for example:

NFC payments

Contactless sharing of contacts

Validation of digital identities, signatures, and keys stored in the eSE.

Management of e-SIM, whose profile is stored in the eSE.

Without the agent, some of these services would not work well (or at all).

Is the SKMS agent harmful to your device?

The SKMS agent is not harmful to your device. If anything, it is a vital system tool that can improve the security of your device and the sensitive data stored in it.

But, despite being a system app, there are a few concerning issues about the application that you should take note of:

1. The mysterious nature of the application

One major concern most people have about the SKMS agent is that it comes pre-installed and has very little information about it online. In addition, it runs in the background and has several permissions enabled.

However, the information above about the application’s functions and benefits should be enough to quell any concerns about it being malicious.

2. The possibility of the application being bloatware

Some users have complained about SKMS agent being installed on their phones, yet it is listed as not device-compatible in the Google Play Store.

Therefore, there is a chance that you might have the application installed on your phone, but it is not working. This would make it bloatware that takes valuable storage resources on your device.

3. Presence of application in untrusted app stores

The Samsung KMS agent is not malicious but is available for download on several untrusted sources.

Therefore, users trying to update the app might download it from these sources, especially when it is listed as incompatible with their devices on the Google Play Store.

Unfortunately, downloading the application from these untrusted sources could introduce malware and viruses on your device, corrupting the phone’s software or even damaging it.

Should you uninstall the SKMS agent from your phone?

While the SKMS agent application has a few concerning issues, it is perfectly safe. It also performs several critical security functions, so it is not advisable to uninstall it.

More so, being a pre-installed system app, deleting it from your phone would be a complex procedure.

That’s because you must root your device first and use a root uninstaller application.

Alternatively, you would have to enable the developer mode on your device and uninstall the app using an Android Debug Bridge Studio on your PC.

These uninstallation methods are technically complex and carry some risks, including corrupting your phone, causing extensive device damage, voiding your warranty, or even making your phone completely useless.

Therefore, you are better off leaving the SKMS agent installed on your device.

If you have a Samsung phone, you may have noticed that anytime you receive a notification, whether SMS or email, the display on your screen says Content Hidden.

That is because the content gets hidden when you have locked your screen. Thus, the only way of viewing the content is to unlock your phone.

Generally, the notifications feature lets you preview your new message or alerts when you have locked your screen, allowing you to read them without unlocking your phone. But if it says Content hidden, you must figure out how to unhide it.

You can turn off the content hidden notification in your phone’s settings.

But if you have a Samsung phone, the notification option has three settings:

Show conversations, default and silent

Hide silent conversations and notifications

Don’t show any notifications.

Hide silent conversations and notifications is the default option on Samsung devices running Android 12 and above.

Note: Other Android phones have a different setting for hiding or showing a notification when you have locked your screen.

What does notification content hidden mean on Samsung?

The new notification content is not visible because it:

Hides sensitive messages.

Ensures privacy by preventing people from snipping into your messages.

Protects your personal information.

Although the feature may be handy, it is also possible that you may want to view notifications without unlocking your phone.

How to unhide contents of notifications in Android

Image: storyset

You can unhide notification content in different Android devices through these steps:

Go to Settings.

Scroll down until you locate Display.

Go to the Lock display section.

Tap on Lock Screen.

Select Privacy. Three options will pop up; Show all notification content, Show sensitive Content only when unlocked, and Don’t show notifications at all.

Select Show all notification content.

After selecting the option, go back to your phone and lock the screen. If you get a message, you will preview it without unlocking your phone.

Note: The procedure may vary on different devices and Android versions. We have covered some of them below.

How to unhide content on Samsung Android 12

If you have a Samsung device running Android 12, here is how to unhide notification content:

Go to Settings.

Scroll to Notifications.

Scroll down to the bottom and select Notifications on the locked screen. A popup with three options will appear; Show conversations, default and silent, Hide silent conversations and notifications and Don’t show any notifications.

To Unhide Notification Content, select Show conversations, default and silent

Once you lock your phone, you will preview all messages or notifications you receive without unlocking it.

How to unhide notifications on other Android devices

Android devices have different ways of showing or hiding screen notifications. If the above procedure doesn’t work, try the following:

Open phone Settings.

Tap on Apps & notifications.

Select Notifications.

Tap the option labelled On Lock Screen.

Select either Show All notification content, Hide Sensitive Content and Don’t show notifications in the pop-up window.

Confirm your selection.

If you choose to show all notification content, you will preview messages, social media engagements, and emails with your phone locked.

However, even if your phone shows new notification content is hidden, you can still restrict specific applications on your lock screen.

How to hide or unhide notifications for specific apps

Image: AppDrum

Although you may want to unhide notifications to make it easier to read messages, some information is too sensitive for anybody to read, even when you have locked your device.

Therefore, you can hide or unhide notifications for specific Android apps on Android 12. Here is how:

Go to Settings.

Tap on Notifications.

Scroll down and select See All. A list of the most recent apps will display.

Find the app that you want to hide its notifications.

Select the app (e.g., Messages).

Tap on Notifications.

Toggle Off All Messages notifications to turn off notifications for Messages or that specific app.

If the Show notifications option is off, toggle it to turn on all notifications for the app.

Conclusion

When you see Content Hidden in your notifications on Android, you cannot preview an email or text message when you receive it if you have locked your phone.

Therefore, you must unlock your phone to view the Content. However, you can disable the feature to allow the preview of notifications without unlocking your phone.

You can show notifications for specific apps on your device and lock other applications.

Samsung devices have built-in security features that guarantee user documents and data safety. One of these applications is the KLMS agent, which secures your device system.

So, what is the Samsung KLMS Agent?

The KLMS Agent is one of Samsung’s secure features in their KNOX platform. KLMS agent prevents unauthorized data access to your phone’s system and logs. If you have work-related info on your device, this app is responsible for protecting and keeping it private.

The in-built app also prevents personal data on the device from mixing with work data. Applications in the Samsung KNOX cannot interrupt apps outside it and vice versa.

In addition, if your device is stolen, the KLMS agent can help track it, wipe data, or locate it.

Is KLMS agent app a virus?

The KLMS agent is not a third-party app. Therefore, it is not a virus or spyware. On the contrary, KNOX is encrypted and abides by all privacy and security protocols. These days, every Samsung phone has KNOX software for extra safety.

If your phone does not come with the pre-installed application, you may notice that the KLMS agent keeps popping up. To avoid getting this notification, download the app from Google Play Store.

Does KNOX detect malware?

KNOX software detects malware but not like typical anti-virus software does. Rather, KNOX locks your device data for maximum protection. Samsung KNOX offers multi-layer security and integrity by acting as a vault for your data and work documents.

The security system runs on every level of your mobile phone. As a result, any security gaps that can be crossed by harmful software are closed.

Features of the KLMS agent app

KLMS is essential as it enhances data software security in the following ways:

Software Integrity – your Android device comes with pre-installed software, and the more you use it, the more software you install. The KLMS agent app prevents malware and hackers from modifying your software.

Network Protection – anytime you connect your phone to an outside network using the internet, hotspot, or Bluetooth, it risks getting corrupted. KNOX software prevents malicious software from attacking your device.

Device Software Protection – all apps on your Samsung device (harmful or not) rely on the device’s resources. The KLMS agent ensures that the least device resources are used primarily for harmful software.

Data Storage Security – your Android device stores a lot of data, from contacts, photos, media files, documents, etc. The KLMS agent app protects all stored data and restricts potential data damage.

Should you uninstall KLMS agent?

Before you think of uninstalling or disabling the KLMS agent app from your mobile phone, remember that it is critical software. Many Samsung users who uninstall KNOX do so because they confuse it with a virus. As mentioned earlier, it is not.

Uninstalling the software exposes your data and denies you all its protective features.

How to uninstall KLMS agent?

The following procedure for uninstalling KNOX software works for Samsung Galaxy S7, Note 3, Note 4, and Note 5.

To uninstall the software, open Settings > Applications > KNOX App Settings > KLMS Agent App > Uninstall KNOX > Backup Data > OK.

When using a newer Samsung Android device, use these steps:

Open the Settings app on your phone and open the applications.

On the Menu tab, select System Apps.

Click on KNOX apps to view applications related to the KLMS agent app.

Disable the applications.

Reboot your device.

Samsung KNOX FAQs

You should install the KNOX software on your Samsung phone because of the many benefits highlighted herein. But if you are looking for more clarification, below are the answers to some of the commonly asked questions about this software.

Does the KLMS app require an agent?

No. KLMS is already the KNOX software agent. It, therefore, does not need an agent to run.

Is KLMS agent different from KNOX?

Yes. KNOX is the software responsible for security and protection in Samsung devices. KLMS is the agent that helps KNOX work effectively.

Note that Android devices have different agents, e.g., SVC, BBC, SKMS, and ELM.

Summary

The KLMS agent app is vital for KNOX software to carry out its roles. The two protocols guarantee that your media, contacts, audio, gallery, data, and documents are safe from harmful malware attacks,

Some benefits of keeping KNOX installed on your Samsung device include; software integrity, network protection, device software protection, and data storage security.

Uninstalling the software from your Android phone could expose your data to viruses and hackers.

In this technological age, smartphones are one of the most treasured possessions.

It can be pretty frustrating when you are using your favorite apps one moment, and the next, the apps keep crashing on your Samsung phone. Sometimes, the apps close immediately after opening, leading you back to your home screen.

This can be a sign of an underlying issue that you can most definitely fix on your own.

The problem occurs due to a wide range of factors, from device age, the stability of your internet connection, lack of Storage on your device, and so many more.

This article will teach you how to quickly fix the issue so you can be back to using your favorite apps on your smartphone in no time.

These are some of the problems your Samsung phone might be experiencing and how to solve them quickly:

1. Outdated device or app software

Most cases where Android apps keep closing unexpectedly result from outdated software.

For your smartphone and its apps to keep running smoothly, always ensure that your device’s software and related apps are up to date with the latest software.

This issue has a pretty quick and easy fix and can be done in a matter of a few minutes by following these simple steps:

Open Settings, and click on Software Update

Tap Download and install

Follow the instructions on your screen

Once complete, your smartphone will restart and be ready for use. To avoid experiencing a repeat of this issue, turn on automatic updates in the Settings, or remember to go back and check for new updates every once in a while.

If the apps on your Samsung phone still keep crashing even after updating, there are still a few more measures you can take.

2. Optimize your internet connection

An internet connection that is slow or unstable can be a leading cause for apps that keep crashing.

Optimizing your internet connection is an easy fix for this problem and can be done by following these easy steps:

Switch off your Wi-Fi router or mobile data for a few minutes

Please turn off your smartphone for a few minutes and turn it on again

Switch back on your Wi-Fi router or mobile data

We have provided a detailed troubleshooting procedure should you get the “failed to obtain IP address” error in some instances. You should be able to fix the error using those tips.

However, if the problem persists, try connecting to a different network provider. If that still does not work, try any of the following solutions.

3. Clear the app’s cache and data

This process wipes off any excess and unused data stored in your device that takes up helpful space and can be done quickly and easily.

Open Settings and click on Apps.

You will be provided with a list of all the apps on your smartphone. Select the app you are trying to fix.

Click on Storage, then ‘Clear data’ or ‘clear cache,’ then OK to carry out the command.

Once the process is complete, open the app from your home screen. It should now be working properly.

This procedure has proven to be more helpful when apps such as email and Samsung Notes crash. It should also work for many other native Samsung apps.

4. Free up space on your device

Running low on storage space on your Samsung smartphone is one of the most common issues because of how many files we save and apps we download.

However, if you are the proud owner of a device from the S and A Series, you probably also have tons of photos and videos taken with that spectacular camera.

Unfortunately, all these take up loads of space in the phone’s internal memory. Clearing these apps’ files and data frees up space and allows apps to run smoothly.

To clear device space, follow these simple steps:

Open Settings, then click on Apps

Tap on the three vertical dots at the top right corner of the screen. More options should pop up.

Tap on ‘Sort by size.’

Now you can see which apps are taking up the most space and get rid of the ones you no longer need or could do without. One way to tell apps you don’t use is to check Samsung’s Auto Disabled feature, which pauses apps that you rarely use.

Image: AppDrum

Open your files and gallery, select the items you no longer need or have backed up elsewhere and delete them to free up more space.

5. Reinstall the app

Downloading an app from the wrong location or downloading a troubled app can cause a problem whereby apps keep crashing.

To resolve this, open the app store, search for the app and click uninstall, then wait a few minutes before reinstalling it. Alternatively, follow this three-step method:

Launch Settings and click on ‘Apps.’

Select the app you are trying to resolve from the dropdown list of apps on the device, and then click on ‘Uninstall.’

Wait a few minutes, and then open the Google Play Store, where you can search for the app and click on ‘Install.’

Make sure you are downloading your apps from the Google Play Store. Otherwise, you might end up downloading problematic apps or viruses disguised as apps onto your smartphone, which becomes a whole new issue you must deal with.

6. Factory reset your device

Use this method if and only if you have tried all the other solutions to no avail.

This is because once you factory reset your phone, all the data, downloaded apps, and settings are erased, becoming brand new, as the name suggests.

If you must factory reset your phone, ensure that all your important data is backed up on a hard drive or an online cloud, so you can still access them afterward.

It is an easy process:

Go to Settings

Scroll down until you see the ‘General management’ section

Tap ‘Reset’

Tap ‘Factory data reset.’

Your device will then display the Android icon, signaling that the data reset process is underway. After it is complete, the phone will switch off and turn back on.

Now, your phone is like new, and you will need to set it up again, sign in to your accounts, and download the apps you had.

Note that for different generations of the Samsung Galaxy smartphone series, the layout of the settings may vary, but the steps to follow are all the same across the board.

The methods mentioned above should help you fix the issue where apps keep crashing on your Samsung phone.

You may have noticed that your Samsung phone running on the Android operating system has a bundle labelled com.samsung.android.incallui.

The feature is available on all Samsung phones that run on the Android operating system. Nevertheless, some people may think of the bundle or application as suspicious.

Some Samsung users have even considered it a virus or a gateway that makes their devices vulnerable. But what is com.samsung.android.incallui? Is it safe, or should you delete it from your phone?

com.samsung.android.incallui is a safe application designed to enable it to run various critical processes. It is basically a system module that manages various aspects of your phone when making or receiving a call. They include speaker, mute, hold, cancel, among others.

To break it down, incallui is better understood when you separate the initials in the world to reveal its meaning. In-Call UI, where UI is User Interface. Therefore, com.samsung.android.incallui .

What does com.samsung.android.incallui mean?

com.samsung.android.incallui is the display that shows when making or receiving a call. It provides the interface between the phone and another module in Samsung called com.samsung.android.dialer.

Furthermore, it provides interactivity with users during calls, enabling them to access the dial tone, speaker, keypad, and mute options.

Therefore, you can achieve many things with the module, including:

1. Ending a call

The system gives you the user interface or button for ending a call.

2. Putting a call on hold

It would be impossible to put an ongoing call on hold without com.samsung.android.incallui.

3. Change call audio

Samsung’s call UI

If you use Bluetooth as a listening device, the com.samsung.android.incallui system module allows you to switch the call audio off or onto a Bluetooth device.

4. Place call on speaker

You can place a call on the speaker to listen to the other person hands-free.

5. Minimize call interface

During a call, the only thing that displays is the call interface. But with com.samsung.android.incallui, you can minimize the interface, allowing you to access other applications on your phone.

When that happens, InCallUI will work in the background. Also, you will see a coloured notification bar on top of your screen. That way, you will continue with your call and do other things.

6. Dial keys

During a call, especially to a service provider, you may receive instructions to dial specific keys to get assistance. Thus, com.samsung.android.incallui allows you to bring up the keyboard to dial the keys.

7. Mute a call

The module makes it easier to mute calls and prevents the other person from listening to you or the voices around you.

8. Call recording

com.samsung.android.incallui facilitates the call recording option on Samsung devices.

8. Caller ID

The feature shows the profile photo and caller ID of the person you call. However, you will only see the image if you already have it under the person’s contact.

9. Turn off the proximity sensor

Have you noticed that your phone’s lights go off during a call? That is because a proximity sensor on your phone turns off the phone’s display when it is close to your face.

So, when the display is off, it prevents you from accidentally touching the end button. Also, it will stop you from doing other things like tapping the record, muting, or bringing up the keyboard.

Also, the feature allows you to add another person to your call or start a group or conference call.

Is InCallui a virus?

InCallUI is not a virus. Instead, it is a system module designed for Android phones.

You can access the feature in your phone’s settings.

Should you use com.samsung.android.incallui?

com.samsung.android.incallui is a system module you can use on your Samsung device.

It is helpful because it allows you to access essential features during a call.

How to access com.samsung.android.incallui

You can access com.samsung.android.incallui by following the steps below:

Go to Settings.

Tap on the three buttons on the top.

Select Show System apps.

Scroll through the list and find incallui or com.samsung.android.incallui.

Tap on it.

You will get different options when you tap on it, including clearing size, cache used, and permissions.

Conclusion

Your Samsung phone has an application or system module labelled com.samsung.android.incallui. The module is safe to use and offers the interface for ongoing calls.

For example, it allows you to do different things, including bringing up the keypad, ending, muting, recording, and holding a call.

Additionally, you can use it to minimize the call interface and access other apps while the call is ongoing.

The module also turns off the proximity sensor, allowing the call display to go off to avoid ending a call accidentally or tapping the loudspeaker option.

Are you unable to send or receive emails on your Samsung Email app? The experience can be frustrating, mainly when you rely on your phone for emails or you need to send an urgent email.

The problem can be due to several reasons, including network issues, settings change, incorrect login details, and wrong recipient email address, among others.

Here, we have compiled a list of possible issues causing the Samsung email app not to send or receive emails. We have also provided troubleshooting tips and solutions.

Why is my Samsung Email app not sending emails?

Several reasons can cause the Samsung Email app to stop sending or receiving emails. Some are temporary and quickly resolved, while others can be pretty stubborn.

They include:

Incorrect password for your email account

You’ve entered an incorrect email address

There are network issues

Wrong configuration of the email app settings

Temporary issues from the server-side

Glitches or bugs with the email app

Corrupted cache and data on the email app

Your email app is out of date

Problems caused after an update to your phone’s OS or email app

A problematic email app

How to fix Samsung Email app problems?

Below are some troubleshooting steps and solutions that you can use to fix your Samsung Email when you are unable to send or receive emails:

1. Check your internet connection

Network issues are one of the main reasons you might have trouble sending or receiving emails.

Therefore, you should check whether you are connected to a Wi-Fi or cellular data network.

You should also test whether you have a working internet connection – you can do this by launching your browser, typing into the search box, and clicking the search icon.

If you don’t have an active connection, switch to another network and try sending the email.

2. Check your recipient’s email address

Can you receive but not send emails on Samsung? The problem could be that you are trying to send your email to the wrong email address.

In most cases, emails to a non existent address will always be reverted back to your inbox. They are usually accompanied by a message indicating that the e-mail couldn’t be delivered to that account.

Therefore, recheck the email id you are sending to and ensure you have not made a typo error.

3. Verify that your email login details are correct

Another reason the Samsung Email app is not working is if you use the wrong password. Such a scenario can occur if you have changed your email’s login details but forgot to change them in the Samsung Email app.

To fix the problem, go to your Email app and re-enter the correct password, then try sending the email.

4. Check that your email settings have not changed

The Samsung Email app forwards emails from your email account to your phone. Therefore, you need to configure your email account’s incoming and outgoing servers.

If these configurations have changed or been corrupted, you will have an issue sending or receiving emails.

Fortunately, you can easily reconfigure the settings, thus fixing any problems.

Follow these steps to configure email server settings from a Samsung phone:

Go to Apps > Samsung > Email and launch the email app

Tap Menu then Settings

Go to “My Account,” then scroll to “Server Settings.”

Under incoming server, select POP3 server and enter pop3.gmail.com if your email is from Gmail. If using Hotmail, enter pop3.live.com.

For the security type, choose SSL

Under the outgoing server, select SMTP server and enter smtp.gmail.com (for Gmail client) or smtp.live.com (for Hotmail)

Under the security, choose SSL and then enter 465 under Port

With your Samsung email app settings reconfigured, you can now try resending your emails.

5. Remove and re-add your email accounts

If reconfiguring your email settings does not work, you can try removing and re-adding your email account(s).

Go to Apps > Samsung > Email and launch the email app

Go to the Menu icon, then select Settings

Go to “My Account” and choose “Remove Account.”

Once you have removed the email account, exit the app the relaunch it again. Then, start the setup process and choose automatic setup, with guided on-screen prompts.

Alternatively, you can select the manual configuration. You will then use the incoming and outgoing server settings above and add your email username and password.

6. Update your Samsung Email app

App updates come with changes to support the current security and other features, which might be outdated and no longer working.

Therefore, you are likely to experience issues sending and receiving emails if you have not updated your Samsung Email app in a while.

You can fix this problem by downloading and installing the latest Samsung Email app update from the Play Store.

7. Restart your Samsung phone

Glitches and bugs in your Samsung Email app or the phone’s software can cause problems when sending emails.

But lucky for you, these issues are usually temporary, and you can quickly resolve them by restarting your phone.

8. Reset the Samsung Email app

If the Email app is still not working after restarting your device, you could be dealing with corrupted data or cache files.

In this case, you should reset the app to its default settings.

Here is a look at how to reset your Samsung email app:

Go to Settings > Apps > Samsung > Email

Tap on the app, then select “Storage.”

Tap on “Clear Cache” to wipe all stored cache data, including cookies

Tap on “Clear Data” to wipe all the accumulated email app data (including your account information and settings)

After clearing the data and cache, go back to the app menu and launch your Samsung Email app. Then, add your accounts and complete the setup process.

9. Remove and re-install your Samsung Email app

Are you still having issues even after resetting your Email app?

You may be dealing with a problematic app. In this case, you should delete it from your phone and re-install a new version.

Make sure to download the latest Samsung Email app from the Google Play Store.

Wrapping up

The above troubleshooting tips and solutions can help you fix most of the issues causing you not to send or receive emails on your Samsung Email app.

However, if none of them works, you should consider waiting out the case (it could be a temporary server-side problem) or using another email app.

You could also try to access your email on another device, such as a PC.

Finally, you can contact Samsung Customer Support for additional phone troubleshooting.

Does your Samsung Notes app keep crashing? Besides being one of the best apps to create, edit, and sync notes to different gadgets, it may stop working.

You may lose some files and drafts if the app stops working, particularly if the files are not synced to the cloud. Luckily, there are solutions to this common problem.

So, how do you fix the Samsung Notes app when it is not working or keeps crashing? Since there are many causes for this glitch, there are also many to fix the problem.

Restarting your Samsung device and clearing the caches are the simplest ways to solve the bug. However, if the problem persists, you can update the app or uninstall and reinstall it later.

Whether you have the latest Samsung phone or the previous models, here are the solutions if the Samsung notes app keeps crashing.

Option #1: Restart your device

If the Samsung Notes app disappeared from your list of apps, the simplest solution is to restart the device.

Like in other Android and iOS devices, restarting solves different glitches on the Samsung phones.

To restart a Samsung phone:

Press and hold the Volume down button and Side button

Release the buttons when you see the Power off prompt

Select the Restart option

Confirm your choice by tapping the Restart option again

Once you restart your device, the glitch will disappear. However, if the Samsung Notes app keeps crashing after restarting the device, you need to clear the cache.

Option #2: Clear the cache on your Samsung phone

While cache files make it easier to retrieve files and notes, they may be the reason why Samsung Notes has stopped working.

To clean the cache files:

Click the Settings icon on your Samsung phone.

Go to the Apps option.

Scroll down to the Samsung Notes app

Tap the Storage option

On the bottom right, select Clear cache.

Clearing the cache may log you out of the app. Therefore, you should backup all the notes and drafts before clearing the cache.

Option #3: Update Samsung Notes

Image: Samsung

Besides accessing additional features, updating the app is an alternative way to fix glitches. To update the app:

Tap the Google Play Store.

Go to the My apps & games menu.

Scroll down to the Update section

Search the Samsung Notes app

If there is an update, click the Update option

Once the update is complete, restart your phone

You can now use the app without the glitches. However, if the Samsung Notes is not working after the update, you need to uninstall and reinstall the app.

The process may take more time, unlike other options.

Option #4: Uninstall and reinstall the app

If updating the app and restarting the phone does not solve the problem, uninstall the app. Depending on your Android version, there are different ways to delete the Samsung Notes app.

However, the simplest way to uninstall the app involves two steps.

Long press the app

Click OK to uninstall

Once you have uninstalled the app, you can download it from Google Play. To download Samsung Notes:

Go to Google Play

On the search bar, type Samsung Notes. It should lead you to this page.

Click Install

Put your Samsung account details

If I uninstall Samsung Notes will I lose everything? If you sync your notes to the cloud, you will not lose the notes if you uninstall the app.

Once you install the app again, you will get all your saved drafts and documents when you sign in to your Samsung account.

So, you should not uninstall the app if you have not synced the notes.

Option #5: Contact Samsung Support

In some unique cases, the app may continue crashing, even after all the steps above.

Fortunately, Samsung has a department to handle such unique cases. Contact Samsung Support for more guidance. Emailing the company’s support team is the fastest way to get help.

While the Samsung Notes app is one of the best note-taking apps on Android, it may crash or disappear. The good thing is that the bug is common and solvable using the above options.

The golden rule when using the app is to back up the notes on the cloud to avoid losing them in case of a glitch.

Don’t you just hate it when your smartphone starts misbehaving? Unfortunately, smartphones like every other tech gadget are prone to issues, now and then.

And sadly, even the top phones on the market are not spared from these issues. If you own a Samsung Galaxy smartphone, one of the common problems you are likely to experience is the “failed to obtain IP address” error when connecting to a Wi-Fi network.

This is a common network error that occasionally affects popular Samsung Galaxy phones such as Galaxy S7, S8, S9, & S10, Galaxy Note 10+, Galaxy A5, and others.

But what if you could easily fix the issue and resume connectivity? Below is a look at the top solutions for fixing the error.

What causes ‘Samsung failed to obtain an IP address error?’

There are several solutions that you can use to fix this Samsung Galaxy network error. But before we go into that, it is important to first understand what causes the issue in the first place. Below is a look at some of the most common reasons:

IP configuration failure on the router side

Entering the wrong wireless network password

Weak Wi-Fi signal

A problem with your device

An issue with the security settings on the Wi-Fi router

How to fix ‘Samsung Galaxy failed to obtain an IP address’ error

The failure to obtain an IP address error on your Samsung Galaxy phone can be frustrating. However, it is easy to fix the issue with the solutions below.

1. Check the signal strength

A poor wireless signal could be the reason why your phone is having problems obtaining an IP address from the router. So, before trying other fixes, first check your signal strength. Just to be safe, try to connect your phone when you are close to the router.

2. Check the Wi-Fi password

Another possible reason for the Wi-Fi connectivity error is if you enter the wrong password. For example, it is common to enter a lower-case letter instead of upper-case and vice versa. It is also possible to mistype some letters when entering the password. Before trying other solutions, re-enter the password again.

3. Restart your smartphone

Some Samsung devices are prone to network issues to bugs in the phone’s software. Luckily, you can fix most of these bugs with a reboot of your phone.

To reboot, long-press the power button, then select the restart option. Once your phone powers back on, try re-connecting to the network. It is that simple!

4. Restart your router

IP address configuration failure can also occur on your router’s side, where it is unable to assign an IP address to your Galaxy device.

More often than not, this is due to temporary bugs on the router, which can be fixed with a reboot.

There are several ways you can go about rebooting your wireless router:

Using the designated reboot button, usually found at the back panel of the router

Using the router’s physical power on/off button

Rebooting the router in the online settings page

Disconnecting and reconnecting the router from the power outlet

Once the router powers back on, try connecting your device to the Wi-Fi network

5. Forget the network

Another reason why Wi-Fi keeps saying failed to obtain IP address is there is a problem with the saved network information on your device.

You can fix the issue by “forgetting the network” (which will remove the saved data) and then reconnecting again.

To forget the network:

Go to Settings > Network > Wi-Fi on your device

Tap and hold the Wi-Fi network (that you are unable to connect to) until a menu pops up

Tap on “Forget Network” option

Re-enter the password for the network and try connecting again

In conclusion

Can’t obtain an IP address for a Wi-Fi network on your Samsung Galaxy device? We understand how frustrating and annoying the issue can be.

Luckily, with the above solutions, you can be able to fix the error and enjoy internet connectivity on your phone once again.
