Owlet Sock sensor not working? How to fix

Many parents encounter different problems with the Owlet Sock sensor. Some get false notifications, and others are unable to connect the device’s Base Station to a Wi-Fi network.

Whenever you come across an Owlet sensor not working issue, try to troubleshoot it to find a solution fast.

As a parent, the Owlet Smart Sock gives you insights into your baby’s wellness. It also gives you some peace of mind, even when your child is napping or asleep at night.

That is why, when you face a problem with the Owlet sensor, things become frustrating because you will be unable to monitor your baby. But what can you do in such a situation?

Why the Owlet Smart Sock sensor isn’t working and how to fix

The following are some common issues that you may have encountered and how to fix them.

1. Owlet sensor got wet

Many parents have encountered a situation whereby they dropped the Owlet sensor in water or accidentally washed an Owlet sensor together with the sock.

If this has happened to you before and your sensor got wet, try the following:

  • Dry it well, either in the sun or use a hairdryer.
  • If you use a dryer, ensure it is in a cool setting.
  • Wait for at least two days to allow it to dry.
  • After 48 hours, plug it back to the base.

The sensor should work for now.

But if it does not, consider calling the Owlet Tech Support Team at (844) 334-5330 or send them a message via their Help Center so that they can look into it for you.

2. Owlet replacement sensor not pairing

When you encounter an issue with the Owlet replacement sensor not pairing, consider doing the following:

  • Force quit the app on any device where you might have opened it.
  • Ensure you have unpaired the old sensor.
  • You will know you have unpaired the sensor if you do not see an illumination on the Sock light on the bottom of the base station.
  • The Base Station will be bouncing white and will alarm with a blue notification.
  • Next, place the replacement sensor in the Base Station charging port.
  • The light on the station will change from bouncing white and start glowing solid white.
  • That indicates the pairing is successful.

If you see a blue light on the Base Station, it means the Owlet sensor replacement has not paired successfully. In that case, contact customer support for further assistance.

3. The batteries are drained

The Owlet Sock comes with a coin cell rechargeable battery that will drain over a prolonged period.

You do not need to replace batteries in an Owlet sensor since you only have to charge it daily.

If you want to ensure it lasts longer, do the following:

  • Avoid letting it drain completely. Otherwise, it will affect the capacity of the sensor to recover its original properties.
  • Charge the sensor fully from the powered base station.
  • After charging the battery to its capacity, unplug the sensor from the base station.

When you charge the battery fully, expect it to last up to six months. Owlet recommends that you recharge the sensor every six months.

An issue with the Owlet sensor not working can frustrate many parents. But fixing the problem will depend on its cause.

For example, if the sensor got wet, ensure it dries for at least two days before plugging it back into the base.

If you want the batteries to last long, do not allow them to drain completely. You should also recharge your sensor every six months.
