Fix 1: Connect the Merkury Wi-Fi camera to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi
Merkury Wi-Fi camera, like many smart home gadgets, cannot connect to 5 GHz Wi-Fi. Although 5 GHz Wi-Fi is faster, it has a relatively lower range and object penetration.
The Merkury wi-fi camera supports 2.4 GHz wi-fi only and doesn’t require much bandwidth.
Many routers combine 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz on a single access point. In addition, you can find that some routers allow users to create just one access point for the two bands or separate them into two distinct Wi-Fi with different passwords and names.
You can change your router’s settings via the app if it comes with it. If it does not come with an app, go to your router’s settings and permanently change your frequency band.
Remember to turn 5 GHz back on once you connect your Merkury camera.
Does Merkury Smart Wi-Fi Camera need Wi-Fi?
Yes. You need a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi connection for your Merkury Smart cameras to function.
When the Wi-Fi is off, the camera also goes offline. It will, therefore, not record to your SD or the cloud.
Fix 2: Change your Wi-Fi router’s encryption settings
