Facebook Marketplace filters are not working? How to fix

Tim Vickers

Facebook announced several improvements to Marketplace, including the ability to filter your searches by the following: the type, price, distance, category, and date posted.

You can easily shop for goods, jobs, and even services online with the filters. A good thing about Facebook Marketplace filters is that they are simple to use and very accessible.

However, as you may try to filter Facebook Marketplace, you may encounter an error with the filters where they don’t work. The error will make it difficult for you to filter accordingly and see what is being sold.

In this article, you’ll learn what you can do if you have trouble with Marketplace Filters.

How to Fix Facebook Marketplace filters that are not working

If you are looking to buy something on Facebook Marketplace but can’t seem to filter Facebook marketplace items using it, here is a quick fix.

Do one of the following depending on what is causing Facebook Marketplace filters not to work.

1. Change Facebook Marketplace filter

Facebook Marketplace filter was developed because of the recent update of the social media app. It allows users to choose filters manually when browsing.

This extension is useful for people who used to buy and sell things on the Marketplace. Now you can see the items from people with similar interests or from your neighborhood.

In some instances, the filter you’ve selected for use may end up not showing what exactly you’re looking for. It is best you try searching with the other available filters in such a case.

For example, if you can’t sort Facebook Marketplace by date, you can choose to sort by price. It will at least help you get what you’re looking for but under a different category.

2. Log out and re-enter your Facebook account

Re-logging into your Facebook account is one of the simplest solutions to fix the Facebook Marketplace filters when they are not working.

If you’re having trouble accessing the Marketplace filters, sign out of your Facebook account by clicking the Sign Out icon. Wait a few minutes before logging back in using your email/phone number and password.

3. Try a different browser

Your browser could be having compatibility/accessibility issues. If you’ve retried again but Facebook Marketplace is not working, consider switching to a different browser.

The issue you are experiencing is most likely an issue with your web browser and not an issue with the Marketplace itself. If the issue is browser-specific, then try the Marketplace in the alternate browser.

Switch to another web browser such as Chrome, Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox to fix this.

4. Clear the cache and temporary data

When you are using Facebook Marketplace in the system’s web browser, and it suddenly stops working, then the system’s browser cache or temporary data can create a problem with your online experience.

Manually clear your browser’s cache and cookies. The issue may be related to your cache files. Reset your browser to its default settings.

If you’re using Windows Internet Explorer, you may need to delete your browsing history before resetting the browser

5. Reinstall the application

Install Facebook

If you are trying to access the Facebook Marketplace on the mobile, then uninstalling and reinstalling the app may solve the problem. In the process, you can check on App Store or Play Store if the app requires an update.

It’s important to ensure you are using an updated version of Facebook so that you don’t reencounter problems with the Marketplace filters.

6. Check if you are barred from accessing Facebook Marketplace

The Facebook Marketplace has community policies. Whenever you go against these policies, Facebook will remove your access, and you will not be able to access Facebook Marketplace.

An update on the app added the ability to reset the marketplace filters from the configuration dialogue in case you want to start fresh.

The techniques listed above should help to fix the Facebook Marketplace filters not working issue on your smartphone or web browser.

If not, try using Facebook Marketplace on a different device to determine if there is an issue with your current device’s system.
