AT&T Active Armor, also known as Call Protect, may not work due to several issues, key among them being your device doesn’t have AT&T HD Voice compatibility.
Other reasons include poor internet connectivity and an AT&T Active Armor app that is out of date. If you have jailbroken your iPhone or rooted your Android phone, you may also experience issues with the Call Protect function.
In summary, these are the main reasons why AT&T Call Protect is not working:
- You’ve inserted your SIM card into a phone that doesn’t support AT&T HD Voice.
- You’ve turned off AT&T HD Voice and LTE connectivity.
- The AT&T app may be out of date.
- Your device may be rooted or jail-broken
- AT&T may be experiencing a service outage.
Now that you’ve known the possible causes let’s discuss their solutions.
1. Get a compatible device
According to AT&T’s fine print, you need a compatible device in order to download and use Active Armor.
The requirements at the moment are:
- A smartphone that is able to download apps.
- Your smartphone should be HD Voice-capable.
- A smartphone that is running either Android 9+ or iOS 12+ or higher.
- You should have purchased your phone through AT&T.
2. Confirm that your phone isn’t rooted
You may not be able to install Active Armor if you tried jailbreaking your iPhone or rooting your Android phone at some point.
Ensure your phone is running on the default operating system it came with because the app is not optimized for rooted or jail-broken devices.
Remove the root or jailbreak from your smartphone if you still wish to use Call Protect. You may have to consult with a professional to avoid damaging your device.
3. Enable Cellular Data and LTE
LTE is required for running Active Armor and Call Protect on Android and iOS devices. In addition, you have to set enable cellular data.
To enable LTE on iPhone:
- Go to Settings.
- Select Cellular.
- Go to Cellular Data Options.
- Select Enable LTE.
To enable LTE on Android:
- Go to Settings.
- Select Network & Internet (or Connections in some phones).
- Tap on your primary SIM.
- Select Preferred Network Type.
- Select LTE.
4. Update Active Armor
Visit the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store to download the latest version of Active Armor.
Updating Active Armor may help eliminate some of the bugs that may prevent the app from working.
This is because updates are usually released not only to improve features in apps, but also to fix glitches and vulnerabilities.
5. Clear the app cache and restart your phone
Clearing the cache may help restore the app to its functional state if the issue arises due to corrupted files.
To clear the app cache on an Android smartphone:
- Open Settings.
- Go to Apps.
- Select Active Armor.
- Tap Storage.
- Tap Clear Cache.
To clear the app cache on iOS:
- Launch the Settings app.
- Tap on Active Armor.
- Scroll down to Clear Temp Data on Next Start.
- Toggle it ON.
Restart your smartphone for the changes to be effected.
6. Enable background app refresh
To enable background app refresh:
- Go to Settings.
- Select General.
- Tap Background App Refresh.
- Toggle the button to ON.
This way, Active Armor can run in the background and check for new content.
